About Me

Most girls dream big when they’re young.  I was no different- I was sure I going to have it ALL (the home, the husband, the kids, the dog, the career) and look good while doing it.  The reality of adulthood is things never turn out quite like we plan.  But I’m so grateful for the life I’ve been given, a huge portion of which involves being the best Mrs. Jones I can be.

I’ve been teaching for ten years at the most amazing little school in my hometown.  This is my second year teaching 4th grade AIG.  All my experience has been in upper elementary except for the year of substitute teaching when I quit after my first year teaching (that’s another story).  I truly love my job and feel so blessed to know it’s so much more than just a job.

When I’m not teaching, I’m spending time with Mr. Jones and loving on our dog.  We watch Jeopardy every night, play nerdy board games, and cheer on our favorite college sports team (go Wake Forest!).  We work with the youth group at our church and weekends we aren’t busy with that you can find us in the mountains, at the lake, at the beach—we love to travel anywhere!

I love books (especially children’s books) and have been reminded through blogging the last couple of years that I also love to write.  You can visit my personal blog at onlyletuslive.blogspot.com and I look forward to sharing my school adventures with you here.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hello Deana. I am a Pastor from Mumbai, India. I do remember coming across your profile on the blogger and the blog post but I am not sure commenting on your blog post but I take this opportunity to get connected with you and your husband. I am blessed and feel privileged and honored to get connected with you as well as know you through your profile on the blogger and the blog post. I love getting connected with the people of God around the globe to be encouraged, strengthened and praying for one another. I have been in the Pastoral ministry for last 37 yrs in this great city of Mumbai a city with a great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. we reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the brokenhearted. We also encourage young and the adults from the west to come to Mumabi to work with us during their vacation time. We would love to have you come to Mumbai to work with us during your vacation time. Since you are involved in the Youth group of your church we would love to have the young people from your church to work with us during their vacation time. I am sure they will have a life changing time.
God willing I am coming to the States in the month of September and will be glad to drop at your place and meet you and see the possibility of your young people coming to Mumbai to work with us.
